A web design company you deal with directly.

Little Goat is a web design company in Auckland building websites for New Zealand small businesses — the site, the search rankings and the AI visibility as one job, for one price.

You'll deal with the person who builds the site. Every time. There is no account manager, no handoff to a junior, and nobody who has to go away and ask.

What a web design company owes you

Most people looking for a web design company have either been burned or watched someone else get burned. The site that took eight months. The one that was never quite finished. The designer who stopped replying to emails. The invoice with twenty lines on it, half of them for things a working website simply has to have.

So it is worth being plain about what the arrangement actually is.

None of that is remarkable. It is an ordinary job done properly. It is worth writing down only because it is so often not what happens.

It gets finished, and you own it

There are two questions worth asking any web design company before you sign anything: what happens if this goes wrong, and what happens if I want to leave. Here are both answers.

If the work stalls

You have paid half and you are still holding the other half. That is the whole reason the money is split that way. A deposit and a balance is the plainest incentive to reach launch that anyone has invented, and it works in both directions.

If you want to leave

You can, any month, with thirty days' notice — and you take the site with you. The built files, the domain, and an export of everything in the content system. There is no proprietary platform holding your business in place.

That promise is cheap for me to keep, and it is worth saying why rather than just asserting it: the site is a set of static files and your words live in a system that exports them. Nothing about the architecture depends on you staying. A company that has to lock you in usually built something that only works while they are holding it.

There is no fixed term. Leaving inside the first year repays only the part of the build discount that has not been earned back yet, and that number is written down before you sign rather than discovered afterwards.

If you are weighing up the monthly, the packs page shows both build prices and what the monthly actually covers. If you want to know what any of this should cost across the market first, what a website costs in New Zealand breaks it down with the competition's own published figures.

Most web designers are finished when the site goes live. That's the week the real work starts.

Talk to the person who'd build it.

Tell me what your business does and how many pages it takes to explain it. You'll get both prices on the first call — hosted with me, and not.

Questions people ask

What does a web design company charge in New Zealand?

Little Goat's packs run from $890 to $1,990 excluding GST when the site is hosted with me on a monthly plan, or $1,290 to $2,390 when it is hosted elsewhere, plus $59 to $99 a month.

Across the wider market the range is much wider. Auckland designers publish single-page sites from around $299 and packages from $599, but those headline figures are usually before SSL, a contact form, analytics and any page past the fifth are added as separate lines. MoneyHub, which ranks near the top for this question, tells readers they should not pay more than $2,000 for a five or six page small-business site.

Those competitor figures are published at smallbusinesswebdesigns.co.nz/pricing and moneyhub.co.nz/auckland-web-designers.html, and were verified on 24 August 2026. They are claims about someone else's business, so they carry a date here and get re-checked.

Is Little Goat an agency or a freelancer?

Neither description is quite right, so here is the plain version: Little Goat is one person, working outside a day job, with the whole search and reporting side automated.

What that changes for you is who you talk to. There is no account manager and no junior doing the actual build. What it does not change is the scope, the fixed price, the deposit-and-balance structure or the exit policy, because those are written down rather than depending on how big the company is.

What is included in the price of a website?

Everything needed for the site to work, with no add-ons: up to fifteen pages, the words written for you from a questionnaire, mobile-first and accessible build, contact form, Google Analytics and Search Console connected, Google Business Profile claimed and filled in, LocalBusiness schema, titles, meta descriptions, alt text, sitemap and robots.txt, image optimisation, and the domain and SSL sorted.

SSL, contact forms, analytics setup and extra pages are the four things most commonly billed separately elsewhere. None of them is an extra here.

Do I have to host the website with you?

No. Both prices are on the page precisely so that it is a real choice rather than a default.

Hosting with me is cheaper up front because the monthly plan funds part of the build. Taking the site elsewhere costs about $400 more to build and there is no monthly at all. The site itself is identical either way — it is a set of static files that will run on any host.

What happens after the website goes live?

That is when the monthly plan starts, and it is the part that decides whether the site earns anything.

Every pack includes hosting, SSL, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security updates, thirty minutes of changes a month and a monthly summary. The Growth pack adds a six-layer audit every week, position tracking, AI-citation tracking and a plain-English monthly report saying what moved and what was done about it.
